Why do you write? Warum schreibst du?

I’m a glutton for punishment.  I don’t really know why I write, but I think a big part of the reason is because I’m miserable when I don’t. 

Ich weiß nicht warum ich schreibe, aber ich denke ein großer Grund ist, dass ich  mich schlecht fühle wenn ich es nicht tue.

How do you get the time to write? Wie findest du die Zeit zum schreiben?

I’m fortunate enough to be able to support myself writing, so writing is what I do all day, every day.  But before I could do that, when I first sat down to write Starcrossed, my husband told me to quit my job and write.  He supported me while I wrote for a year.  That’s why all the books are dedicated to him—there really wouldn’t be a Starcrossed series if he didn’t believe in me and love me as much as he does.

Ich bin in der glücklichen Lage mich selbst dazu anzuspornen, also schreibe ich jeden Tag. Aber bevor ich das tun konnte, als ich zuerst Starcrossed schrieb, sagte mein Mann, ich solle meinen Job kündigen und stattdessen schreiben. Er unterstützte mich während ich dieses Jahr lang schrieb. Das ist auch der Grund warum ich alle meine Bücher ihm gewidmet habe. Es gebe keine Göttlich-Reihe wenn er nicht an mich geglaubt hätte und mich nicht so sehr lieben würde wie er es tut.

What inspired you to write the starcrossed-novels? Was hat dich dazu inspiriert die Göttlich-Reihe zu schreiben?

Starcrossed is the first book I ever wrote, so I wanted to start with a subject that I’m familiar with, and write a story that I would love.  I studied classical theater at NYU, so I’m well acquainted with the Greek tragedies, and I’ve always loved fantasy.  It was just the most natural choice for me to start here.

Starcrossed oder auch Göttlich - Verdammt ist das erste Buch das ich jemals geschrieben habe, also wollte ich mit einem Thema starten, mit welchem ich mich auskenne und die ich lieben würde. Ich studierte klassisches Theater an der NYU, weshalb ich mit den griechischen Tragödien auskenne und ich habe Phantasie immer geliebt. Es war einfach die natürlichste Wahl für mich, hier zu beginnen. 

Which book-scene (in your books) is your favorite scene? Welche Szene in deinen Büchern ist dir die liebste?

My favorite scene is in Goddess (between Helen and Lucas), and I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t talk about it.  My second favorite scene is the final sequence in Dreamless.  I do love a good fight. 

Meine Lieblingsszene zwischen Helen und Lucas spielt in Goddes (Göttlich - Verliebt) aber darüber möchte ich noch nicht so viel verraten. Meine zweite Lieblingsszene ist der Schluss in Dreamless (Göttlich - Verloren). Ich liebe einen guten Kampf.

What do your husband ( you family) think about your books? Was denkt dein Mann (deine Familie) über deine Bücher?

They are all huge fans.  I’ve gotten an enormous amount of support from my husband and family.  In fact, my sisters and brother are already arguing about who is going to get the advanced reader’s copy of Goddess first.  (I have to make them share because there are 7 of them and I only got a handful of copies!)

Sie sind alle meine größten Fans. Ich habe riesige Unterstützung von meinem Mann und meiner Familie bekommen. Tatsächlich sind meiner Schwestern und Brüder sogar schon am Streiten wer die Kopie von Goddes (Göttlich - Verloren) zuerst lesen darf. (Leider müssen sie teilen, da es sieben sind und ich nur eine Hand voll Kopien bekommen habe.)

What do you think about your fans? Was denkst du über deine Fans? 

Let me put it this way.  Whenever I’m having a bad day, or I’m frustrated with something I’m writing, I go online and chat with my fans.  They are fun and caring and I thank my lucky stars every day for them.  I adore my fans.

Lass es mich so sagen, immer wenn ich einen schlechten Tag habe oder wegen irgendetwas frustriert bin, dann schreibe ich. Ich gehe online und chatte mit meinen Fans. Sie sind lustig und fürsorglich und ich danke meinem Glücksstern jeden Tag für sie. Ich liebe meine Fans.

Is there anything you want to tell them? Gibt es irgendetwas das du ihnen gerne sagen würdest?

How do you find the time to write back all your fans? Wie findest du die Zeit allen deinen Fans zu antworten?

I make it a priority.  My fans have put so much love and effort into me, I feel it’s only right to do the same for them. 

Ich habe meine Prioritäten. Meine Fans stecken so viel Liebe und Mühe in mich, dass ich es einfach richtig finde, für sie das gleiche zu tun.

Do you think supernaturals could realy exist? Denkst du es gibt wirklich Übernatürliches?

I wish!  I think supernatural love can exist, but unfortunately I don’t think are any Greek demigods running around the world anymore.  *sigh*

Ich wünschte! Ich denke übernatürliche Liebe kann existieren, aber leider glaube ich nicht, dass irgendwo noch Halbgötter auf der Welt sind. *seufz*

What do you do in your free time?

I try to hang out with my friends and family as much as I can.  It’s really easy to isolate yourself when you’re a writer, and making time to see the people you love is really important. 

Ich versuche so viel Zeit wie möglich mit meinen Freunden und meiner Familie zu verbringen. Es ist sehr leicht sich selbst zu isolieren wenn man Schriftstellerin ist, aber es ist sehr wichtig Zeit mit den Menschen zu verbringen die man liebt.

Stubborn.  Geek.  Wiseass.
